Protective Equipment for Press-Brakes [AKAS] Laser Light Sensors. At Category 4 level of security, a balance has been achieved between safety and labor effectiveness.

AKAS is the most well known safety equipment widely used in Europe for press-brakes.This equipment will prevent the danger of press-braking work without reducing the worker productivity.
Generally, press-braking work in the past incorporated two-optical-axes shielded ray-type safety equipment as a safety measure. However, when you do special work in which you cannot use such safety equipment (work such as processing a small piece of material by holding it with your fingers), you have to neutralize the safety equipment. This AKAS conforms to the European Safety Standards (EN954 Category 4) and is suitable for application to the International Standards (IEC61496-1, 2 Type 4). It can secure safety and productivity without neutralizing the safety equipment.

Function
1.  Pinpoint monitoring by the laser sensor.
2.  Safety monitoring can be done even when you hold a work piece with your fingers during the stroke of the ram.
3.  When exchanging a tool, you can easily perform any adjustment required.
4.  Monitoring in compliance with the needs of the work. (Effective positions and ineffective positions will be automatically set in accordance with the stroke.) Three calibrated laser beams from the projector are received by four beam receiver units, and the presence of laser beams will be detected to determine whether they are cut-off or not. Then the seizing signal of the press-brake will be cut off. All laser beams are treated as effective beams up to the low-speed change-over point (the bottom dead point, 23mm above the work piece) and then the beams will be neutralized in sequence. All the optical axes will be neutralized and suspended at a punch mark 8mm to 9mm above the work piece.

*

This function is available only on a machine having a changeover position to low-speed that is adjustable and the speed of the low-speed action is less than 10mm/sec.

Installation
Movements and adjustment of the projector can be easily done by changing the tools. Adjustment of the beam receivers can be automatically done by using a single control knob.
